Recently the state of Massachusetts has sought to bring both land and online based gambling into the state. The House deliberation passed the amendment seeking to legalize online casino poker within the state of Massachusetts. One hundred and twenty-three votes were cast for the amendment and a measly thirty-two votes were cast against the amendment. Unfortunately the House and the Senate had differing views regarding the decision to allow online gambling. The Senate cast a vote of a whopping twenty-four against the amendment. Only
fourteen people voted for the amendment.
Procedure dictates that a conference must be held in case of House-Senate disagreements, so there is hope yet for the amendment being passed. After all, the amendment was beautifully written and dictated that jobs would be created in the software sector by demanding internet poker websites be licensed and regulated. Further research will be done on the subject of online gambling before the Senate decides to pass the amendment.
